Edit mode vs. visualization mode I suggest to add two modes: "Visualization mode" vs "Edit mode". By default, CRP should always open up on visualisation mode, then if you wish to edit then Edit mode should be manually enabled. When closing up CRP from Visualization mode, no "do you want to save ? " option should be available, only when closing from Edit mode or swapping from Edit mode back to Visualisation mode. This would allow to let other people visualizing topography and charts without supervision and risking to screw anything up (data, charts, settings). This would also let non user to get more familiar with the software without fear to break anything.
Visualisation of siphons. May I suggest to have a different survey shot display for siphons e.g. dashed line, thicker line. As it is, I find it hard to impossible to have a good visualisation/understanding of the siphons.
Profile rotation It would be great to have a mouse or mouse + keyboard button action to rotate the profile. This would make it far more ergonomic to find the desire viewing azimut than manually fiddle the azimuth profile.
Decimal separator : coma vs. point I really like the fact that CRP handles both comma and point as a decimal separator. However, the choice of the comma format as the final format isn't the most practical in many cases: i.e. compatibility with other software, apps, geographic tools or mapping website, and copy/paste action requires editing the comme for a point. I know, comma is the German decimal separator format for as much as it is for the French and most EU... but many computing solutions use points as decimal separator. Maybe an option in Settings should allow to select which decimal format is used as final (leaving the great flexibility of comma or point when filling up data).
Propagation of uncertainty: It would be intresting to have an idea of the uncertainty of the position. The further we are from the entrance, the higher the uncertainty is high. Easy to ask... harder to do I suppose :)
Magnetic declinaison and variation Would it be possible to integrate an automated MagDec/MagVar feature using IGRF model for example?
Ellipsoid height (GPS) vs. altitude geoid. Elipsoid height (raw altitude data given by GPS) and altitude (relative to the geoid) aren't the same... Would it be possible to add a field GPS helipsoid height and integrates an automated altitude calculation based on EGM2008 model or soon to be released EGM2020?
Orthograpic view Would it be possible to add an orthographic view? Perspective view gives great visual result but when it comes to analysis, an orthographic view is a lot better to understand the relation between of cave parts or caves.
That's all I have for the moment but more will come... as usual :)
Has I realized going through my translation suggestions. I think the Visualisation and Drawing tabs could do with a few improvement:
Independant black or white background choice between Visualisation/Layout and Drawings/Elements : I like to visualise data with black background (better perception and less tiring for the eyes) but I draw using white background and it will be printed on white paper.
Drawings in botom left frame should be named Drawing/Layers (Dessins/Couches) as it can be used as both.
Here my thoughts about your ideas and my sorted priority:
Improving french translation This will come
Drawings in botom left frame should be named Drawing/Layers (Dessins/Couches) Good idea. I like to change the tooltip only.
Orthograpic view Interesting to implement this for Perspective and Volume
Independant black or white background choice between Visualisation/Layout and Drawings/Elements Maybe sufficient to set background of Drawings/Elements allways to white?
Decimal separator : coma vs. point Today seperator depends on language (German and French = comma, English = point). Do we need different configurations?
Propagation of uncertainty: Sound like colouring by distance to origin?
Magnetic declinaison and variation CRP have to call a web service. First step: display todays declination and variation in cave data
Ellipsoid height (GPS) vs. altitude geoid. CRP have to call a web service. First step: display diference between both in cave data
Profile rotation Maybe obselet, if we get orthographic view
Visualisation of siphons. Today possible with a different line colours. Maybe in future a special colour for siphons?
Edit mode vs. visualization mode Difficult, because every setting the to-save-flag have to change (> 250 code sites)

Great.

Great.

it should come as a choice of 3D projection : current mode (oblique projection?) or orthographic projection.
Zitat von CaveRenderPro im Beitrag #3Independant black or white background choice between Visualisation/Layout and Drawings/Elements Maybe sufficient to set background of Drawings/Elements allways to white?
Sounds like a good option as long as the option black or white remains for the rest.

If it's a choice to make, I'd rather go for decimal separator set as point as it would give more flexibility with copy from CRP/ paste in other application (GIS, online mapping, etc.).

I was thinking something like a hurricane path prediction map rendering... the likelyness of being right where your survey tells you you are reduces the further away you are from a fixed point (entrance) and the less loop closures you have. What I would like to visualize is the uncertaintenty of the positionning.

Thumbs up.
Zitat von CaveRenderPro im Beitrag #3Profile rotation Maybe obselet, if we get orthographic view
Not sure to understand why it would become obsolete. Profile will still be displayable 360 degrees, and being able to rotate around using the mouse would be a good tool.

Maybe an option to grey out the dry part of the cave and therefore highlight the siphon. an icon could be added in (colours/texture windowframe). In the future, I would keep one colour scale for both siphon and dry galeries so it can be visualy compared. different colour scale would add some confusion in my opinion.
Zitat von CaveRenderPro im Beitrag #3Edit mode vs. visualization mode Difficult, because every setting the to-save-flag have to change (> 250 code sites)
hmmm. Excuse my ignorance but would visualization mode require any "to-save-flag"... open the file as it was saved in edit mode, close without saving.
Something I still would like to get in Elements (I know I already asked...) is a doted line. UIS standard use of dashed line - "underlying galleries", "Too narrow continuation", "Presumed dimensions of Space" - is far too broad in my opinion and leads to confusion. I'd rather step away from the UIS standard on that matter and use a thin doted line for "underlying galleries"
I use for most my drawing the half sized line symbole (1/2). However, in many cases I still find the render far too big (e.g. lines sticky bits are too long for canyons as they are wider than the canyon itself or for narrow pits). Maybe adding a 1/4 option would be a plus or a box where the reducion parameters can be set: e.g. 0.5, 0.25.
Connect lines : Is there a way to make the connect line feature more efficient by allowing the connection of more than 2 lines at once?
Merge surface : It would be nice to be able to merge the drawn surfaces...
Do you think it would be possible to calculate for each station and splay the distance to the surface based on GoogleMaps DEM ? I know the GoogleMaps DEM is far from good, but better than nothing.
I remember suggesting having splays with colorscaled from station to end point... and the answer was: Java can't do! Now CRP 9.1.0 deals with JavaFX 18, is there new options ?
Comparing Therion display and CRP, 2 things are obvious to me : - CRP has a far better graphical resolution and this is very good. - Therion splay colors (scaled) is better.
